Formula One, in simple terms, is a popular motorsport where 10 teams, consisting of 20 drivers in total, try to build the best cars and race to win the most Grand Prix events. Races take place in different countries around the world, with the most famous including Monaco, Britain and Japan.

Formula One, also known as one of, if not the most expensive sport embodies luxury and has cultivated a truly glamorous look. Thus attracting an elite crowd including celebrities, influencers and even high-end fashion brands. The high-stakes environment of the sport perfectly compliments the allure associated with these brands. Both thrive on innovation, exclusivity and a certain level of showmanship.

Luxury brands use F1 as a platform to showcase their creations, using the sports’ global reach and image to promote and elevate their brands.

Especially with figures like Lewis Hamilton who have blurred the lines between fashion and sports, by using their influence to promote trends and work with brands such as Tommy Hilfiger.

Another important reason for the growing relationship between fashion and formula one is their ever evolving female fanbase. In November of 2022, CEO Stefano Domenicali stated that 40% of F1 fans were women. Not only had the percentage of female viewers increased by 8% from 2017 (it continues to grow even more today), so had the number of female fans going to watch the races. In fact, F1 travel company Grand Prix Tours recently stated that women now represent 50% of their client base.

This growing female demographic has not gone unnoticed. Brands along with Formula One teams such as Ferrari and Mclaren have started recognising female fans’ desire to represent their team while showcasing their unique fashion sense, hence ramping up their clothing collaborations. This clothing often features stylish, team-branded apparel that blends team loyalty with personal style.

The F1 2024 Season has certainly been of to a wild start with it’s record breaking calendar and suspense towards various driver line ups, but it’s not only the drama that’s caught viewer eyes. With the world of F1 and Fashion integrating more and more by the day, this F1 season also bought along some of F1’s best fashion moments.

The list reflects F1’s broad fanbase, with it’s wide range from influencers, celebrities, models, and the drivers themselves. Starting with Lewis Hamilton, the driver who has cemented himself as a fashion icon and often made the paddock his very own runway. His style consists of high fashion, streetwear and eye-catching, quirky outfits.
